My labor story

Our last picture as a family of five.  I was off to make it a family of 6!

I love hearing people's birth stories.  They are always all so different.  Even mine.  Each and every kid is different.

Here is mine with Wilson:

As you saw in a previous post, I really tried to go on my own and I actually thought I was going to.  I was scheduled to be in induced on Friday and starting Thursday afternoon I was having very regular contractions.  In fact, around bed time I thought I was going to need to go in.  I swear, as soon as I decided it "might be time," they slowed down and almost stopped.  Lame.

So, I went to sleep and woke up the next morning to go into the hospital for my induction.

I've decided that I just don't know if my body could progress without an epideral.  They checked me and even after all my contractions I had been having, no progress.  Then I got the epideral and I went to complete an hour and a half later.  So it was a quick 2 1/2 hours labor from the time they hooked me up to pitocin and I delivered.  I was quite pleased with this.

Wilson came out healthy and screaming (always such a relief to hear the scream).  I immediately fell in love.

Wil and I were going to leave the hospital that next day because I felt great, and to save some money, but we ended up having to stay an extra day because I was group B strep positive and I guess you are supposed to have the antibiotics for 4 hours before you deliver and I went a lot faster than they expected so they had to monitor him an extra day.  So they did.  He was healthy and we packed up and headed to our house to introduce Wilson to his home on Sunday, March 24th.

I think he likes it.

We like him.
